I Am Here To Tell You Why Spring Prep Starts Now

As February dawns, stories and feeds are filled with reds, pinks, and heart , but believe me when I say its fleeting and the algorithm knows it. While everyone’s still enjoying Valentine’s vibes, there’s a quieter momentum building

Before you know it all you will be seeing are pastels and flowers; the secret to welcoming it with ease isn’t perfection, it’s preparation.

🌷 The Power of Early Spring Prep 🌷

Preparing early doesn’t mean skipping what's happening now. It means planning for your future.

There are a lot of benefits to prepping for spring now, :

  • Less stress later :no scrambling when the season hits looking for inspiration wondering what to post

  • Room to be creative: you’re ready for when clients enter and asks you for your opinion

  • A sense of momentum : stepping into spring already in motion

gives you motivation to carry on and not wanting to pull your head out. Without preparation, it can feel rushed and overwhelming trying to create on the spot .

HERE'S MY SPRING PREP CHECKLIST

✔️ Curate a spring mood board- I don't know about you, but personally I need to be able to visually see something before planning it -side note hope that makes sense-. Creating a spring mood board helps identify the vibe you want for the season and everything you want to explore. From colours, textures, trends, nail shapes, salon decore and art styles. This can be things you want for yourself , your clients, or your content. With the amazing technology we have access to these days we can do it digitally. So whether it lives on Pinterest, Instagram, a saved folder, or even printed it keeps your creativity cohesive and gives you clear goals.

✔️Spring cleaning : So now we know how we want this season to look and things we want to create; this is a great time to declutter and organise your space. Some of you may have done it in January but if you are like me you were too busy finding glitter in all the wrong places and catching up on sleep after the December madness. So now is the time!! We all know as a nail tech from here on out you will be hit with Spring Nails , Mothers day, Wedding Nails, Easter , Prom Nails, Summer/ Holiday and Festival nails before you can breathe.  Clearing out old stock, expired products, unused tools and cleaning those gel bottles will save you time, stress, and mental clutter when things get busy.

✔️ The Swap out : Whether you’re a content creator swapping out props or a nail technician switching up decor, if you take anything away from this list let it be this: it’s always cheaper to buy seasonal items when they’re out of season. You might have to search a little harder whether that means scrolling to page 10 of an Amazon or Google, search or finding that one random shelf in Home Bargains, but the moment something becomes a shop floor display, the prices double. You have your vision from your mood board try and finds décor items or dig them out of storage ready to go up on February 15th. And no its not too soon.

✔️ Organise seasonal art - This one is for my lovely ladies that see clients. Clients are visual people. Having your spring nail art in clear view is a great way to get them thinking ahead. A beautiful display not only sparks ideas but also showcases your skills without you having to sell yourself verbally. This is also a great conversation starter to get clients booked in for their next appointment before they leave your chair. I guaranty if someone walks in and sees bumble bees and daisy they're going to want to talk about it. So while they’re sat having their Valentine’s hearts, they’re already planning their next fresh spring set.

Finding Colours

Finding colours for spring can be way more taxing than it sounds. Pastels are beautiful, but in all honesty some of them are painful to paint somehow they need ten coats to look right. I have tried a few working on finding those soft, muted shades that gives that spring feel without the frustration. When a colour glides on smoothly and shows up in one or two coats it makes the process so enjoyable and I found this in Stellar Gel.

Here Are My Picks For Fresh, Feel-Good Shades

  • Soft Sage Green : Peaceful, grounding, perfect for plants and walls

  • Butter Yellow : Bright and cheerful without overwhelm

  • Sky Blue : Brings a light, airy feel to any space

  • Lavender & Lilac : Soft artistic tones with creative energy

  • Blush & Peach : Warm & Inviting it Offers a, gentle, glow, that, feels, cozy, and, welcoming.

  • Cream & Warm White : Clean bases that tie everything together

SPRING ART IDEAS TO GET YOU INSPIRED

Spring is one of the most creative time of year. Here are six art techniques that you might want to give a try this season. Below are some very inspiring designs by some amazing creators. These design show how different and creative to spring nails can be.

  • Florals

Floral nails are a spring must, whether they’re painted over a soft nude base, accessorised with chrome and jewels or layered onto a bold pop of colour. They are timeless.

  • Watercolour

Watercolour florals are perfect for spring because they mirror the season’s softness. The loose washes and gentle layers make the petals look light and expressive.

  • Pressed flower encapsulation

Pressed flower encapsulation is perfect for spring because it captures the season’s beauty; effortlessly perfect .

  • Garden-inspired patterns

Florals, vines, bees, little leaves, these patterns don’t need to be perfect to be beautiful, its the tiny details that matter. These type of designs combine texture with colour, the more chaotic the better in my opinion.

  • Colour or Play & Abstracts Shapes

This is your permission to have fun and throw the rules out the window. Whether you’re splashing colour freely or stacking shapes, don't over think it.

  • Layered textures 3D with spring hues

These ideas can be as simple or elaborate as you like and having them on your radar now means less pressure later.
